For Veterinarians: Referring Patients for CT or MRI
If you have a patient you would like to refer for a CT or MRI scan, you can make an appointment by phone, or have the owner do so. Of course, you can always get more information about these exams in advance.

Delimiting
To keep the study as effective and cost-efficient as possible, it is important to define the region to be studied as precisely as possible in advance.
We therefore kindly ask you to provide us with all relevant information regarding the referred patient, such as:
- results of the general clinical study
- results of orthopedic and/or neurological examinations
- any X-rays that may have been taken
- relevant laboratory results
- information that may be important for the smooth administration of anesthesia
- For MRI: presence of orthopedic implants
You can give this information to the owner or email it to us at info@dierenkliniekdenheuvel.nl
After the research
After the examination, a report is prepared detailing the findings. We often also submit the images to the radiology department at Ghent University for review. For this reason, it may take a day before the final results are available. The results are printed out and given to the owner, and a fax or email is sent to the referring veterinarian. The images from the examination are burned onto a CD and given to the owner. The radiologist’s findings are forwarded to the referring veterinarian by fax or email.
